The Journey That Shaped Me
International careers are often portrayed as exciting opportunities. What is rarely discussed is everything that happens before success: the uncertainty, the rejections, the difficult decisions, the cultural adjustments, and the moments when you begin to question yourself.
I know that journey because I have lived it.
From pursuing higher education across different countries to building an academic career internationally, every step required adapting to new environments, overcoming unexpected challenges, and learning how to present my professional value in increasingly competitive settings.
Those experiences shaped not only my career, but also the way I support educators today.

The foundation of my academic journey, where I developed my passion for education and research while beginning to dream of an international career.

This became one of the most transformative chapters of my career. From adapting to a completely different educational culture to teaching at university level and later transitioning into an international school environment, I experienced international education from multiple perspectives.
As a parent, I also navigated the realities of enrolling my own children in Chinese public, bilingual, and international schools.

Continuing my journey within higher education while serving on academic hiring committees, gaining valuable insight into how candidates are evaluated and what distinguishes successful interviews.
What Makes My Perspective Different
My perspective has been shaped by experiencing international education from multiple angles: as an international student, researcher, assistant professor, international school educator, parent navigating different school systems, and member of academic hiring committees.
Today, I draw on those experiences to help educators prepare strategically, communicate their strengths with confidence, and approach international career opportunities with greater clarity.
